Motorola Evoke
Cricket Communications’ cell phone prices are typically higher for the same type of phones compared to other carriers. This is due to the no contract type service they offer. But as this prepay flat rate carrier evolves it is good to see they offer phones that are getting into this decade. The newest phone to hit is the Motorola Evoke. It is a feature rich phone with a 2.8” full touch screen. Touch screen devices tend to be the newest trend in consumers desires. I guess pushing actual buttons has become too much work for a lot of us. LOL! Ok back to the facts. The phone also has a slide out numeric keypad like traditional phones. The home screen can be personalized by using the integrated widget and RSS feeds. (RSS feeds are the newest way to force feed your email or wireless devices from websites that interest you. IE; you want the weather reports as they change, but you do not want to go to the weather website. The info pushes to you and keeps you informed.) The Evoke is rich with Widgets that allow you to get real-time access to the information that you want. Sites like Google web search, MySpace, YouTube, Picasa, etc. are easily pushed to you from the RSS feeds. The phone has a 2.0 megapixel camera/camcorder (2.0 is a little on the light side in this era). Cricket’s 3G EVDO network has the speed to allow Cricket customers to easily upload pictures and videos directly to their MySpace page, blog or photo sharing sites.
Additional features include stereo bluetooth, preloaded BREW games, integrated music player and microSD card slot with removable memory for music. It has voice activated dialing as well. This phone sells for $299.00 and of course requires no contract. Expect an additional $15 per month fee on your bill to use all web functions. As usual I would recommend asking Cricket about insurance and a phone priced this high.
